�RESUMEN

Se presentan los registros históricos de precipitación
y temperaturas media y máxima y mínima extremas de 20
estaciones localizadas en los municipios que comprende la
Región Citrícola de Nuevo León.
Para cada estación se calculó, además de los estadísticos
básicos, la anomalía anual.
Se hicieron gráficas
interanuales de las variables con más de 10 años de datos,
así como diagramas ombrotérmicos de Gaussen modificados por
García et al. (1983). La información está disponible en
diskette.
ABSTRACT

Historical monthly rainfall total, monthly mean
temperature, and extreme maximum and minimum temperatura
records of 20 meteorological stations located in the Citric
Region of the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico are presented
here.
The annual anomaly of the variables was calculated
besides sorne basic statistic parameters. Interannual plots
of the variables with more than ten years of data were made
as well as ombrothermic diagrams of Gaussen modificated by
García et al. (1983). This information is available in
diskette.

�1. INTRODUCCION

La Región Citrícola está situada al Sureste del Estado
de Nuevo León entre los 100°05' y 99º LW y entre los 24°30'
y 25°30' LN.
La integran los municipios de Allende,
Montemorelos, General Terán, Hualahuises y Linares.
La

extensión que abarca es de 7, O15 km y cuenta con una
población aproximada de 155,935 habitantes (Merla, 1990,
p.104; Resultados preliminares del Censo de 1990).
En la Fig. 1 se observa que la mayor parte de la región
pertenece a la provincia fisiográfica conocida como Llanura
Costera del Golfo Norte. Está formada por lomeríos suaves
con bajadas, mesas y llanos cuya inclinación va desde 200 m
hasta 600 msnm al pie de la Sierra Madre Oriental. Una
estrecha banda de la región (de 15 km de ancho
aproximadamente) que corre del SE al NW a lo largo de la
Sierra Madre Oriental, marca la transición entre la
provincia fisiográfica de la Sierra Madre y la de la Llanura
Costera del Golfo Norte. Es precisamente la ubicación de la
región con respecto a la sierra lo que la hace tener las
mejores condiciones climáticas del estado, precipitaciones
pluviales de 600 a 1000 mm anuales y terrenos de buena
constitución orgánica que permiten la práctica de una
agricultura y ganadería diversificadas. En esta comarca
encontramos una gran variedad de cultivos entre ellos el
producto que más ingresos genera en toda la economía del
estado: la naranja. Antes de que se introdujera el cultivo
de los cítricos en esta región, se practicaba el pastoreo y
se cultivaban caña de azúcar y algunos granos.
Lo que
cambió en gran medida la economía de la región fue la
introducción del cultivo del naranjo por medio del injerto
en 1893. José Andrew Robertson hizo traer de California y
Florida varias clases de frutas (Merla, 1990; p.105) entre
ellas la naranja.
Desde entonces se han plantado
exitosamente diversas variedades de naranjas, mandarinas y
pomelas de excelente calidad debido al clima semicálido
subhúmedo extremoso que caracteriza a la región. El clima
extremoso de la región es debido básicamente a su posición
geográfica en la zona subtropical de las altas presiones,
con influencia de los vientos alisios húmedos y Canículas
durante el verano y los vientos fríos del Norte durante el
invierno. En los últimos 50 años, la oscilación absoluta

�anual de la temperatura ha rebasado los 50 • C en dos
ocasiones, 1962 y 1983 (Ver temperaturas máximas y m1nimas
de las estaciones Linares, Cerro Prieto y Montemorelos).

Para las variables de l~s estaciones que tienen más de
10 años de datos se hiciGron gráficas interanuales Y
diaoramas ombrotérmicos de Gaussen modificados por García et
al. (1983).
En este tipo de diagrama la esr.alJ de
Temperatura : Precipitación se defi ne c~mo ! : 2T _+ 28.
Con esta escala se toma en cuenta el régimen ae lluvias de
verano en el cual la eficiencia de la precipitación en el
crecimiento de las plantas es menor debido a la intensa
pérdida por evaporación durante la época cálida del ~ño. El
diagrama ombrotérmico es muy úti l en la determinación de
meses húmedos y secos. Estos últimos ocurren cuando la
curva de precipitación está por debajo de la de temperatura.
En . los diagramas ombrotérmicos se sombrearon las
precipitaciones arriba de los 100 nvn para mostrar las
estaciones que presentan mayores precipitaciones durante la
temporada estival como son A11 ende, Linares Y Montemore los.

Aunque la naranja es el producto regional por excelencia,
también se cultivan sorgo, maíz, frijol, hortalizas, peral,
nogal, aguacate, etc. Por otra parte, la vegetación
característica de la entidad es el matorral submontano y el
matorral espinoso tamaul ipeco.
La extracción de estos
recursos con fines doméstico, forrajero y forestal es común,
principalmente del mezquite (Prosopis laevigata), huizache
(Acacia farnesiana), huajillo (Acacia berlandieri), tenaza
(Pithecellobium pallens), anacahuita (Cordia boissieri) y
barreta (Helietta parvifolia).
Año tras año diversos fenómenos meteorológicos,
especialmente las sequías y las heladas, afectan en forma
adversa tanto a la producción agrícola como a la vegetación
típica. Por esta razón, el objetivo de este trabajo es
difundir los datos climatológicos de 20 estaciones
localizadas en la región y con esta primera etapa, iniciar
la formación de un banco de datos meteorológicos para todo
el estado.
2. DATOS

Las 20 estaciones meteorológicas de la Región Citrícola
se muestran en la Fig. 1 y en la Tabla 1 se presentan sus
coordenadas geográficas, altitud y años de registro de la
precipitación, temperatura media y máxima y mínima extremas.
Toda la información fue obtenida de la Comisión Nacional del
Agua de Monterrey, N.L.
Los datos de lluvia fueron
adquiridos en diskette, mientras que los de temperatura
tuvieron que capturarse nuevamente. Para la captura se
utilizó el paquete Lotus 1-2-3, con el cual se calcularon
los valores medios, extremos, varianza y desviación estandar
(STO) de cada una de las variables. También se calculó la
anomalía anual (Z), la cual está definida como la desviación
anual que presenta una variable (X) con respecto a la media
y al valor estandar de la muestra,

En la siguientes secciones se presentan los datos
climatológicos con sus respectivas gráficas de las _20
estaciones separadas según los 5 municipios de la Re8 tón
Citrícola. En cada una de las estaciones de la Tabla 1
aparece una clave que se utiliza cuando se busca la
información en el diskette. Esta clave está formada por tres
letras que representan el nombre de la estación. En _el
diskette sin embargo, la primera letra del archivo
representa la variable analizada, P para precipitación Y T
para temperatura: las siguientes tres letras serán la clave
ele la est ac ión ,1ue se muestra en la Tabla 1. Además, los
archivos de cada estación tendrán una extensión .WK1 o :CHT
según sea un archivo de datos o una gráfica,
respectivamente; por ejemplo: PALL.WK1 es la clave para los
datos de precipitación de la estación Allende en el paqu~te
Lotus 1-2-3· mientras que PALL.CHT, corresponde a la gráfica
anual de p~ecipitación de la misma estación pero en el
paquete de Harvard Graphics 2.3.
