El investigador Carlos López Coello, catedrático de la Facultad de Veterinaria de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, publicó recientemente un artículo sobre este tema en LD1a prestigiada revista, lo cual consideramos de importancia para nuestra comunidad. Por esta razón en el niínero 24 del BOLETIN HIMEROGRAFIGO incluimos dicho artículo. Además del artículo anterior se incluye 1.m listado de periódicos, public~ ciones periódicas y seriadas que no contienen indice ni páginas de contenido y que consideramos importantes. Philadelphia, Pa, Vol. 5 No. 2 Junio-1985 Debido a que los signos y lesiones no se presentan al mismo tiempo y en todas las aves, este síndrome ha recibido ·varios nombres de acuerdo a su presenta-ción, por lo que en Europa se le ha denominado - CQIIO: Pollo helicóptero, refiriéndose al emplUlle quebradizo y mal desarrollado de las aves, dándoles una apariencia de helicópteros. - Síndrome del pollo pequeffo, por el gran porcentaje (5-20%) de aves que durante la crianza no logran el peso y talllaffo del reato de la parvada. L.-- l - fiÍ Necrosis de la cabeza del félllU?', pues se ha enoontrado frecuentemente es ta lesión en parvadas sospechosas de padecer este s•indrome. En los Estados Unidos, han agregado otros nombres a la lista para describir el cuadro clínico como son: Síndrome del pollo pálido, debido a que existe una mala pigmentación de las aves, - Proventriculitis infecciosa, por las lesiones que se observan en preventrículo, tras el examen post mortem, que evidencia la forma anormal y la inflamación del proventrículo, La proventriculitis puede confundirse con la helminitiasis del proventrículo, la pullorosis, la histomoniasis o -- cualquier enfermedad que cause el agotamiento orgánico total delas aves, - S!ndrome de Mala Absorción, ya que existe alimento parcialmente digerido en la porción terminal del intestino. Eata enfermedad se caracteriza por un emplume malo, quebradizo e irregu- lar, problemas locomotores, enanismo, diarrea (en ocasiones con moco de color naranja), emplastamiento coloacal, falta de pigmentación y mala con versión alimenticia, Las lesiones reportadas son: hidropericardio, mala calcificación con fragilidad ósea y osteoporosis, atrofia del páncreas, �25 prcwentriculitis, disminución de tamaf\o y falta de tono de la molleja, - 26 ., OR.GANO U - H e I o N fragilidad de la pared intestinal y enteritis de tipo catarral, alimento ''"" ... parcialmente digerido en la porción distral del intestino y encefalomala . ( 6 ) Es muy importante tomar en cuenta que la forma de presentación y desarrollo Secreta el jugo intestina¡ que contiene peptidasa , -rraltasa, sacarasa y la enzima oligo 1-6 glucosidosa que actúan sobre peptidos y carbohid:re.tos y por si el intestino participa en los procesos de absorción y di gestión. - Intestino de la enfermedad no ha sido esclarecida, sin embargo se piensa que el posible -agente etimológico (Reovirus), actúa en el tracto intestinal interfiriendo con la absorción de nutrientes, ( 6 ) aunque es posible que algunas de las lesiones se Secreta el jugo pancreático que contiene tripsina, -- ; quimotripsina, carboxipeptidasa, ami.lasa y lepasa que actúan sobre proteínas. carbohidratos v '1'I'asas. Estas funciones son llevadas a cabo en el tracto digestivo el cual es uno de los sistemas más afectados por el Síndrome de Mala Absorción, por lo que se recordará brevemente las principales funciones fisiológicas de los órganos más afectados en esta enfermedad.
